Pastor Mike and Pastor Jason (South Hills Baptist Fellowship) recently returned from overseas where they helped train pastors and church leaders. They taught a New Testament Survey course (Philippians - Revelation) during the week as well as preached in several churches. It is encouraging to see God mightily at work in our world saving people from their sins and bringing them into His family through faith in Jesus Christ. Check out a few pictures from the trip as well as the video below of some singing that took place during one of the breaks. Pastor Mike will share more about the trip this Sunday at 10am (May 1) at Calvary Baptist Church.
Also be in prayer for an upcoming trip in May to the jungles of Peru. Rob will be helping teach at a pastor's conference and Rebecca will be doing a medical campaign. We are thankful for those who are going and for those who have a desire to support those who go. May the Lord be glorified as the gospel goes to the nations.
At Cavalry we don't view the building as the church. The church is comprised of those who confess Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. The church is the people, not the steeple. The building is a tool that the Lord has entrusted to His church and we are to use it wisely and wisely take care of it. Our goal is to have a building that is functional first and foremost. Function takes precedence over comfort. Recently we upgraded the thirty-five year old flooring in our fellowship hall. This space is a place where we can meet together, study the Bible and pray together, watch kids play together, eat together, and spill food on the floor. The building is just a tool. It's supposed to get dirty with use. It isn't sacred. God doesn't dwell in between walls but among His people (Eph. 2:18-22). That's a long introduction for these pictures. Take a look and we would love to have you to join us as we strive to follow Jesus in this world.
The building looks great and smells even better! We did some spring cleaning this morning and we had a great turnout. Thanks to everyone who helped clean. We also want to thank Rebecca and the cleaning team for all the hard work and for organizing everything this morning. In case you missed it I'm sure we can find a few odds and ends that were left. We will also be getting new flooring in the fellowship hall next week so stay tuned for updates.
